Humble Kings Project: The Humble Kings Project brings the ultimate concert experience directly to soldiers on bases and in the field. Serving as the official band of the I.S.O., the group is comprised of New York’s finest musicians. Each musician must pass a rigorous audition, and, once selected, is required to rehearse extensively before touring. On tour, the band is accompanied by a journalist, camera crew, and professional photographer—all to document the impact on the soldiers. We employ the top sound and lighting company in Israel, whose technicians deliver a high-resolution light show and state-of-the-art sound and stage setup.
The Humble Kings Project uses the power of music to present messages of admiration and support on behalf of various community groups outside of Israel. Before each performance, the soldiers are treated to a special BBQ, and an opening act warms up the crowd before the main performance. After the show, a DJ spins music for the soldiers until curfew. Both before and after the performance, the band members and crew spend time with the soldiers, re-emphasizing the message of respect and gratitude. The band and crew sleep in the same quarters and under the same conditions as the soldiers.
The 2007 ISO Summer Tour performed at the following Air Force bases: Bisnam, Nevatim, Ramon, Ovda, Hatzerim, and Kala. The project received press and promotion on “Gal Galatz” (Israel's signature radio station) and the military newspaper “Ba’mahane” (“In the Camp”). The 2008 tour will take place in August, and will be expanding its concerts to all branches of the military, including troops on the front lines.
Since most soldiers in the Israeli Army are in their late teens or early twenties, American high school and college students are uniquely equipped to create effective programs to provide support to their peers. The I.S.O. is committed to helping students use their own creativity to raise funds and organize morale-boosting efforts. One such program is a letter writing campaign, made especially poignant by the I.S.O’s policy of hand-delivering each letter to the soldiers. Furthermore, students will be given the tools and structure to find inventive ways to raise funds, and will be encouraged to approach the I.S.O. with original ideas for fund raising or other programs.
Best of all, those who participate in the I.S.O Student Outreach Program will get to witness the fruits of their labor, as the I.S.O. makes a video compilation of their concert tour that is available online and that will be distributed to schools and campuses. With enough support, high schools and colleges all over North America will begin bridging the gap between themselves and their counterparts in the Israel Defense Forces.
The I.S.O.’s ultimate goal is to not just entertain the troops, but to convey the complete support and caring of groups outside of Israel. The mission may begin with the Humble Kings Project, but it does not end there. With your support, we plan to deliver all forms of entertainment to the Israeli Army: sports stars, comedians, actors, and others. Additional bands, spanning the full array of genres, will be part of the program. In addition, the I.S.O. is working to bring high school sports teams to Israel in order to compete with teams of I.D.F. soldiers. All of this will be organized in a concerted effort to deliver not just recreation, but full-fledged support, to Israel’s troops.
